Changing colors

The house felt cold, it was almost if she could feel the grey colors of the walls taking part of her body. She put one hand up and looked at it; grey it seemed to be. She was turning grey, she thought. Probably it had something to do with her confused mind. She did not know who she was anymore since she had seen a beautiful, colorful woman passing by a few days before. She stood up and opened the curtains, hoping for the sun to make the day colorful again. No sun. Well, at least not visible today. She heard voices upstairs and decided that company might give her skin some color again.
They were seated on the balcony: her roommate and two of his friends. The place was stacked with green plants. There were clouds of smoke hanging between the leaves; there was not enough wind to blow them away. She followed the clouds with her eyes and saw that the smoke came from a pipe that was held by the dry, pale lip of a boy she had never seen before. The girl felt somewhat uncomfortable surrounded with people who seemed all too certain about who they were. Her roommate noticed.
“Come here darling, and sit in this very, very comfortable chair.” he proposed. She could not remember what his name was.
“You look so comfortable there tough,” she stuttered while she looked around to find another place. “I am okay on the ground.”
The ground was filled with more grayness: grey containers, grey bags, and grey cigarettes. She started to wonder if maybe only her world was grey and not the actual world and if the world even existed. The only available place on the ground, that was more or less clean, was the place where she stood. They all looked at her while she sat down.
“How was your day?” she asked in general.
They all seemed to care about her question, but the person with the pipe answered. He took the pipe out his mound and he looked down at his hands, which were placed on his lap. He had a seed on her right side of the dirty balcony. The moment he moved his chair, clouds of dust moved down to the ground. The girl stared at the clouds, fascinated by it, and not at the boy who answered her question. So she did not see that there was something happening between the people at the balcony.
As soon as she stopped staring, she was in the middle of a discussion what about she did not now. Not knowing what to say, she just sat there and listened while the sky started to be darker grey and the discussion came to an end.
Then she instantly remembered the name of her roommate; Casper. He was looking at a plant now that was almost dying and seemed really focused.
“Casper, what are you guys smoking?” she asked with some hesitation because she did not want to bother her new roommate.
Casper took a while to switch his attention from the plant to the girl but did not seem bothered at all.
“Well, don’t you want to give it a try?”
The girl was a little bit shocked about this direct proposal. Should she do that? She did not see what harm it could do. Maybe that smoking would help her to make her world colorful again.
“Why not?”
She smiled. Again they all looked at her. A woman, who had been sitting in the most far corner, scanned the girl with her eyes. The girl had not paid any attention to her before and was shocked; it was she. She was overwhelmed by her presence, and could only slightly feel air softly touching her cheeks. The clouds of smoke were taken away by the gust of wind.
“Have you never done it?” the woman asked, and with one intense look, it felt like she could see right through her.
The girl looked back and opened her mound to answer the question, but there was no sound. She closed it again and tried to focus her eyes on something else. It was difficult to not focus on the only color that was visible in her world. She wanted to be closer to this woman, to absorb all the color.
“No, never.” she stammered while she felt nervous.
The woman smiled and the girl felt how her body finally started to feel warm instead of cold. It was like the sun heated her body. Only normally you would feel your skin burning a bit before the heat starts to flow slowly into your body like a waterfall. Right now, it was like the waterfall started really fast from inside her body.
The woman was not a lot older than the girl, but in some way, her spirit felt a lot older. The girl laughed a bit at herself when she realized this. She never thought she could see the spirit of someone without actually know that person.
“Here you go.” the boy on the right passed the pipe to the girl.
“My name is Alex by the way,” he said while the girl accepted the pipe, and the girl introduced herself to him, and to the woman.
“I am Luna,” said the beautiful, colorful woman and she came a bit closer to shake the hand of the girl. When they shook hands the girl was forced to hold her breath, because that was the only way she was able to hold herself from pulling Luna closer.
Like if she noticed, Luna turned one corner of her lips up a bit in half a smile. It gave her a very attractive look. The girl smiled back but quickly turned her eyes down after that. She realized that the sexy, comfortable look of Luna made all the confusion in her mind go away.
Alex started to talk, and the girl started to dream about this beautiful creature, instead of paying attention to his explanation of how to use the pipe she was holding in her hands. Luna’s dark hair sparkled a bit in the moonlight. The rays found their way through the clouds.
“So, do you need more help?” Alex’ words brought the girl back to reality.
She realized that she had not paid enough attention to his explanation. The beautiful moon distracted her and was sending her all the energy she had been missing before.
She took a better look at the pipe. It should not be too difficult, she thought. She gave it a try and started coughing, as soon as she was done. Everyone smiled at her and then started a conversation again.
The girl closed her eyes and scanned her body to notice any change. She felt a sparkle, starting in her torso and it multiplied. In a few minutes, her whole body felt warm and sparkling at the same time. Is that actually a feeling? Sparkling.
“Well, I think I know what you mean, however, I don’t think the dictionary would describe it as a feeling.”
The girl opened her eyes, as soon as she heard the raw voice of Luna. She did not realize that she actually asked out loud. The first thing she saw, were Luna’s big, bright eyes.

The girl looked around, “It feels like the whole world is sparking.”
Probably she looked a bit weird according to her audience because they all looked at each other, and started laughing. She laughed with them; her world was more colorful than it had been in days. Who could have ever thought that she only needed the moon to realize that?
